Terror

Terrorists have killed 3000 Americans since 1990. Abortionists have killed 4000 Americans since yesterday. This is a very sad statistic just passed on to me. Its needs to not be ignored. Let us not forget our fight for lives of the innocent. Pray for a great awakening in the USA.

Matthew 6:10

"Your kingdom come, Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven" (Matt. 6:10).

This week, focus each morning on Matthew 6:10. Bring each situation to the Lord and pray, "Let Your will be done in every detail. Let Your kingdom rule take effect in every detail." Bring every detail of your situations before Him, asking Him to take full charge.

Okay, what is the Purpose for Fasting, if not to persuade God?

Hi,

Okay, what is the Purpose for Fasting, if not to persuade God?
Fasting sometimes helps us to establish priorities.

Section 9: Fasting and Prayer
Lesson Forty-Four: Fasting and Prayer

Okay, what is the Purpose for Fasting, if not to persuade God?

To establish priorities

Sometimes, even in full-time Christian ministry, we lose sight of true spiritual priorities. Fasting helps us reestablish our spiritual values and get a fresh glimpse of things from God’s point of view (Isa. 58:6–8). When we fast, we can better see the Lord and His plans. Rough Rider Teddy Roosevelt believed, "Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat."
Throughout our Christian journey of failures and successes we gradually learn to establish godly priorities—and fasting helps us achieve this.

To empower praying

Jesus’ disciples were perplexed with their lack of spiritual power against darkness. When they asked Jesus why, He explained that this was a situation where prayer with fastingwas required. In other words, fasting would empower their prayer and increase their anointing against the forces of evil (Matt. 17:21).

"Fasting makes my heart and mind clearer and more open to God."
Our friend Cindy Jacobs, in her book Possessing the Gates of the Enemy, writes, "Fasting multiplies the effect of prayer at least several times. This is why we often ask for fasting chains along with prayer requests for serious issues. Fasting will touch things that prayer alone will not affect."

We don’t seek spiritual power as an end to itself. We seek the Lord Himself. We are His instruments of righteousness and warriors in His army. Perhaps the clearest example of the power of fasting is found in the forty-day fast of Jesus, after which came the "wilderness temptation."

In Luke 4:1 we read of Jesus’ going into the desert to begin His fast: Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan [following His baptism] and was led by the Spirit into the desert, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.—EMPHASIS ADDEDThen, in verse 14 we read, "Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside" (emphasis added). When Jesus enteredHis personal battle with Satan, He was full of the Holy Spirit. But when He emerged from the battle, victory in hand, He did so in the power of the Holy Spirit. This was the beginning of Jesus’ ministry, which was accompanied from this time forth with mighty signs and wonders! Perhaps a successful forty-day fast should be required for graduation from our Bible schools and seminaries!

As we’ve said, fasting isn’t simply a Christian discipline. Religions around the world utilize fasting for some of the same reasons Christians do. In fact, C. Peter Wagner received the following letter from a Baptist leader:

During the flight from Detroit, I had a man sitting next to me who seemed to have little interest in food or conversation. As we crossed the halfway point in the trip, he bowed his head as though he were praying. After his lips stopped moving and he raised his head, I inquired, "Are you a Christian?" I had given him no indication that I was a Baptist pastor and a university professor.
He looked shocked at my question and commented, "Oh, no. You have me all wrong, I’m not a Christian... I’m actually a Satanist."

I asked him what he was praying for as a Satanist. He answered, "Do you really want to know?"
Assuring him that I did, he said, "My primary attention is directed toward the fall of Christian pastors and their families living in New England." He was serious about his mission and didn’t care to discuss it further.

We’ll see you next week!

We were all blown away.....

Sometimes, you just wish that someone would see and really understand what it is that you are passionate about. Well that happened to me and some friends at the Doug Fields/Group Publishing "National Youth Ministry Conference" this past weekend. A bunch of guys from the National Network of Youth Ministries were there helping youth pastors connect with local networks back home in their communities. Group even had us do a workshop on youth ministry networking - that was very exciting. We were all blown away, though, on Sunday night when Doug Fields said from the main stage that he can't believe how many youth pastors he talks with who are trying to do youth ministry all alone. He said that he had been telling lots of youth pastors to go and connect with the National Network of Youth Ministries because he is a big fan of what they do. That was a very encouraging moment for all of us - someone who is that well-known gets the importance of coming together and working together. So, it's official, Doug Fields says youth pastors should get connected - thanks Doug for the affirmation and encouragement!(www.youthworkers.net).

40 Day Fast

In 1995, 14 years ago during Lent, the Lord lead me to be a part of a 40-day California Prayer Walk from San Diego to San Francisco. While mapping out the journey the leaders of that prayer walk decided that the prayer journey was to great an administrative challenge, but God had His own thought. When they walked into the Carmel Mission, they heard the priest reading the scripture, “Arise and eat for the journey is to great for you and in the strength of that food he walked 40 days and 40 nights.” The journey was no longer a good idea. It was a divine commission and it had to do with Elijah’s 40-day fast and the challenge from Jezebel after Mount Carmel. It’s interesting that the word came at Carmel Mission. California is in an Elijah v. Jezebel showdown.

In 1999, 4 years later, an intercessor saw herself in a dream with a woman dressed for war in Roman armor seated on a body of water heaping up huge waves. People swimming in the water could not make it to their destinations because of the waves. Then an angel appeared to the sister in the dream and declared, “The only thing that can break the power of this spirit is forty days of fasting.” The intercessor queried, “Like Jesus’ fast?” The angel came back immediately, “Like Jesus!”

When I heard the dream, I instantly recognized the Roman goddess Minerva; she’s on the state seal of California and she’s seated on the waters of the San Francisco Bay! I pondered could this be the controlling spirit over California?

3 years later, in 2002, I flew from TheCall Korea into San Francisco to help mobilize for TheCall. On the flight the dream came into my heart like a fire as the Holy Spirit begin moving me to desire this fast. I wanted breakthrough for California. However, being accustomed to fasting on juice and never having fasted forty days on water “like Jesus,” a fear of dying came over me. The Lord began to probe me: “Do you love California enough to risk it?” I cried out to God for permission to go for it, only asking for a sign of confirmation. There in San Francisco I began the fast.

On the morning of my fiftieth birthday, now at home in Pasadena, I met with a young man, who is married to the woman who received the Minerva dream. Neither of them knew about the fast I had already begun and the young man relayed to me that the day before, his wife was given another significant dream. In it, a woman appeared saying, “Lou is fasting the fast you dreamed about three years ago.” The young man’s wife asked, “Do you mean like Jesus fasted on water?” The woman replied, “Yes, he thinks he will die, but he will not die.”

I was staggered at the dream. Could this be the time for California? I knew Jesus was inviting me to take part in his own fast for apostolic breakthrough. Every day in that fast I prayed, “God cleanse me from any inward toleration of Jezebel and declared the victory of the cross over the spirit of Jezebel in California.” In Revelation 2, Jesus declares, “I have this against you, you tolerate that woman Jezebel who teaches and seduces my bondservants into sexual immorality.” On the 31st day of that fast I had a powerful dream encounter in which I was flying over California roaring the victory of the cross over Jezebel. That morning I flew from San Diego to St. Louis where a friend picked me up and he said to me, “Lou, I had a dream last night.” A voice declared, “Because Lou has been faithful on this fast, I have given him authority over Jezebel, and wherever TheCall goes I will establish my house of prayer.” The dream unveils the very promise of Revelation 2 to those who win the victory over Jezebel and her sexual seductions. They get authority! Stunningly after TheCall San Francisco, Gray Davis was removed from office, the governor of California that was passing liberal laws left and right. Then sometime later I was preaching in San Francisco on the Elijah v. Jezebel showdown and the homosexual agenda coming out of San Francisco. The mayor of San Francisco, Gavin Newsom, walked into that meeting while I was preaching, he had just been elected. When asked to pray for him, I prayed something to this effect, “Lord I thank you that all government is derived from your government, therefore let this man know that he will be held accountable for everything he does in this city under the government of God.” Again, it is the Elijah v. Jezebel showdown and the 40-day fast!

Now in 2008, thousands of believers went on 40-day seasons of fasting to pray in the Prop 8 Mount Carmel moment and Gavin Newsom is the man in the headlines. A victory was won on Proposition 8 but now the battle rages again as the court in California will now decide whether it will overturn the vote of the people. The hearing will be March 5th and the decision will be made within 90 days after that.

Therefore standing on our corporate revealed history we are calling now 14 years later from that California Prayer Walk the whole state to fast again for 40 days as the Lord leads to contend for marriage, and restrain powers of darkness daring to believe for a true Elijah Revolution in California.

I would like to call the pastors, leaders, and believers in the state of California to join me on this Lenten fast from February 25th to April 5th. In my fast 7 years ago I had to overcome the compromise of my eyes to get a spiritual breakthrough in the state. I believe that if the pastors of California would call their people to 40-days of cleansing, confession, and preach sexual purity, as the core of this fast, we could step into a place of corporate spiritual authority that could once again shake leaders in government, in our judges, release spiritual awakening, and the beginnings of reformation. I believe if we could form a remnant in California (the 7000 that have not bowed there knee to Baal) then we could see a breakthrough even on the issue of marriage.

Everyday pray for the following Justices: Chief Justice, Ronald George, and Associate Justices Carlos R. Moreno, Joyce L. Kennard, Kathryn Mickle Wedegar, Ming W. Chin, Marvin R. Baxter, and Carol A. Corrigan.

And everyday pray for Governor Schwarzenegger.

More details on RED ENVELOPES

Red Envelope Day

I would be surprised if you have not yet heard about Red Envelope Day. This project is spreading across the internet like wildfire. Here are the basics:

What: Get red envelopes or postcards and mail them on March 31st to the White House.

On the back, write the following message.

This envelope represents one child who died because of an abortion. It is empty because the life that was taken is now unable to be a part of our world.

When: March 31st, 2009 Get a red envelope. You can buy them at Kinkos, or at party supply stores.

On the front, address it to President Barack Obama The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW Washington , D.C. 20500

RED ENVELOPE

Below is an email with an interesting idea. One that I will be doing.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Friends,

This afternoon I was praying about a number of things, and my mind began to wander. I was deeply distressed at the symbolic actions that President Obama took as he began his presidency. Namely, that he signed executive orders releasing funds to pay for abortions, permission to fund human stem cell research, and federal funding for contraception. I have been involved in the pro-life movement for nearly 20 years, and it pained my heart to see a man and a political party committed to the shedding of innocent blood. This man, and this party lead our country, but they do not represent me or the 54% of Americans who believe that abortion is wrong and should no longer be legal.

As I was praying, I believe that God gave me an interesting idea. Out in the garage I have a box of red envelopes. Like the powerful image of the red LIFE tape, an empty red envelope will send a message to Barack Obama that there is moral outrage in this country over this issue. It will be quiet, but clear.

Here is what I would like you to do:

Get a red envelope. You can buy them at Kinkos, or at party supply stores.

On the front, address it to

President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW
Washington , D.C. 20500

On the back, or on a note inside, write the following message.

This envelope represents one child who died in abortion. It is empty because that life was unable to offer anything to the world. Responsibility begins with conception.

Put it in the mail, and send it. Then forward this email to every one of your friends who you think would send one too. I wish we could send 50 million red envelopes, one for every child who died before having a chance to live. Maybe it will change the heart of the president.

We should all try to mail them on the same day so they arrive within a day or two of each other and be even more of a visual at the White House. With Valentine's Day coming up, red envelopes should be easy to come by too. Say we all mail them on the weekend of Feb 28-March 1st. That gives us almost month to pass the word as far and wide as we can. Of course, you can send a red envelope anytime you want, but getting lots at once is great too.

So pass the word!
